Sightings

Despite my scorched shoulders the hoard of whiny fans who were just asking to get a Rant Slap upside their heads for complaining about not getting enough autographs because by golly these players owe them that, I am one happy Saints fan.  After years of disappointing near misses, I finally got my taste of training camp.  And oh, my friends, it was sweet.  Not even the bandwagon brats could bring me down today.  In honor of my happiness, I'm sharing my top five sightings from the morning.  None of them have anything to do with any particular plays or catches or any single effort (or lack thereof).  It's about atmosphere.  And heart.  And a team.  And damn it, I'm just sharing the love.

1.  Morstead is a beast.  How can you complain about the team practicing on the other side of the field when you get to watch this guy slamming balls through the ozone?

Seriously, the guy's all leg.  Look at him. . .

. . . but wait . . . what's that in the background?  Oh, right.  It's my #2.

2.  It's your WTF moment and my Nightmare on Airline: (click the photo to enlarge)

Yep, that's a 55, folks.

Hey, Clint
Congratulations.
You just made my shit list.
It's going to be a long season, buddy.

(Sorry, it couldn't be all hippie shit and rainbows today, now could it?)

3.  I met  up with Chef Who Dat and had the opportunity to chat a little about the slap in the face that is #2 (see above).  He brought little Cafe Swag with him, and I'm glad I got a chance to meet him in person.  Thanks, Chef!

4.   The players get it too.  Despite the heat, many of them head over to the sidelines after practice to sign autographs, chat with fans, and make a kid or two's day.

And they do it with a smile.  How the fuck can you complain about that?

5. I have one last sighting to share, but it's best left for a post of its own.  Stay tuned . . .

  1. Do you know why the future, to be written someday, movie about the Saints will be so awesome? It's the symbiotic love between the team and the city. Seriously, the best scene will be the one where the team returns homemafter a loss, and there's still a crowd waiting to greet them at the airport. No other way to be. I'm happy you finally got to go to camp.
