Blame it on the Andygator

I committed a cardinal sin.  At least in my book.  I watched a Saints game in a public venue.

Now, half of you probably read that and thought, Ugh, no!  Say it ain't so!

But the rest of you are reading the first couple of lines over again to see if you missed the joke.  You didn't.  If you don't already know, I hate watching football games with other people.  Especially people I don't know.  You never know if the guy next to you is going to talk about that imaginary chick he went out with last weekend or if the idiot behind you will continuously point out cute articles of clothing during an 80-yd drive to win the game.  Really, it's for their sake I stay home.  Because in no universe can I tolerate that during a game.

But, as I've said before, preseason doesn't count.  And since I couldn't catch the game live on DirecTV anyway, why the hell not.  I sat in a bar and did as the people do.  I cheered, I drank beer, and I missed quite a few things.  I blame it all on the Andygator.

So I got nothing for you.  I remember it seemed like there was a lot more hitting going on, and some young guys looked pretty good, but I could be wrong.  Like I said, I missed a lot.  I was in *shudder* public.

Due to my ignorance on the game, I will leave you with a couple of good wishes for some old(ish) faces.

* Jake Delhomme - Everyone I talk to is so glad Jake's getting a second chance.  Good for Jake, they say.  He deserves it.  I don't know what he does or doesn't deserve.  I do know that I want to like the guy (cant help support a local boy, right?), and he had more than his fair share of support around here even when he was out sleeping with the enemy.  Now that he's gone, I have the same opinion I've always had: The guy needs to grow a pair and stop throwing a hissy fit every time he doesn't complete a pass.  'Cause dude, it's not always the receiver's fault.  Suck it up.  That said, I'm glad he's getting a second (wait, I think that's a fourth) chance to prove himself up in Cleveland.  Maybe a little of Fujita's class will rub off on him.   We can only hope.

* Javon Walker - Remember how I wanted to put up "I heart Javon" signs in the yard after both Jake and Kevin were in the same SuperBowl and everyone around here said "Kevin who?"  Personally, I support all of our local guys.  This year, I'm getting an "I dig Ike" sign made.  Just watch.  Anyway, I wasn't a fan of how Javon Walker handled his contract in Green Bay (we won't even mention my distaste for all things Rosenhaus), but I really felt bad for the guy when he got hurt after all that.  He's had a rough few years, but, like Jake, I'm glad he's getting another shot in Minnesota.  My guess is that Mr. "You're Selfish and Ruining the Game by Skipping Camp" might need an extra shake of salt to swallow that big, redneck foot of his with Javon on his team again.  He'll just have to pull up his Wranglers and suck it up like a big boy.  I think J.W. gets the last laugh on this one.  Let's hope he doesn't fuck it up this time.
